The second annual gathering in 2017 took place in Brussels and was an occasion for members to assess the network’s action and its progress, plan future activities and analyse expenses and the overall financial situation of the organisation.
The General Assembly was a milestone in the enlargement of the network: eight new applications for membership have been approved, leading to a broader membership of 38 organisations covering 22 countries across Europe.
In line with the democratic proceeding within the network, members also had the opportunity to discuss the topic of SIRIUS’ flagship research initiative in 2018. Following an intense debate, members selected the “Role of non-formal education in migrant and refugee inclusion and its links with schools”, this being an area lacking strong research actions to build evidence-based policies and measures.
