The Migration Policy Group will lead the discussion on the topic of multilingualism amongst immigrants at a European level. The main objective of the meeting will be to consider Recommendation 3 and Recommendation 7 of the Language Rich Project Multilingualism for stable and prosperous societies in order to come up with specific standards/benchmarks that could be used to put these recommendations into practice.
Our invited guests for this meeting are Guus Extra, Chair of Language and Minorities at Tilburg University and Joe Shiels, former Head of the Department of Language Education and Policy at the Council of Europe.
The event will bring together important European stakeholders working in the field of migration and education to exchange information and good practices in the area of multilingualism. Greater engagement of a wide range of stakeholders is essential to make SIRIUS a policy network that bridges the gap between research and policy and proposes solutions that respond to the realities faced by migrant youth.
