The 5th SIRIUS General meeting: one step forward to 2015

On 3rd and 4th April took place in Barcelona the 5th General Meeting of SIRIUS Policy Network. 55 people from 17 European countries attended at this fruitful conference that was useful to plan the future of SIRIUS after 2014, when the network will start running without the European Commission support. For that reason some of the sessions were oriented to the discussion on future funding strategies.

Moreover, the SIRIUS partners had time to discuss the organization of several activities that will take place in 2014: the national meetings, the final conference, and some activities on teacher diversity, among others.

During the meeting took place a parallel meeting in l’Hospitalet de Llobregat with 16 policy makers coordinated by Liesma Ose. Diana Jablonska, from the European Commission, presented briefly the key points from EC perspective about policy makers’ involvement in these networks. This meeting started with a visit to a school with an innovative music programme. After it, the policy makers had time to discuss on the strategies that SIRIUS should plan to impact at policy level.

This 5th General Meeting was linked to a previous Thematic Workshop that took place also in Barcelona the day before, on 2nd April. The topic of this workshop was School Governance and the 24 participants could discuss about School Governance in their countries. This exchange was enriched by the presentations of four speakers: Jens Schneider, Nafisa Yeasmin, Hanna Siarova and Jordi Collet. And at the end all the participants visited a school with a learning community project (Escola Tanit).
